Basic Information; The price of the tickets in Paris Metro varies according to the type of pass; “single, daily, weekly or monthly”. Single ticket is called “Ticket t+” and you save around 20% if you buy “carnet (10 pass of Ticket t+)”. The other pass cards are weekly and mountly bases and saves you more money.  All the tickets and pass cards are also valid in suburbian trains (RER) and the public buses.

Here are the different ticket options in Paris Metro:

Ticket T +

Ticket t+ is the simplest ticket for single use in Paris Metro. You can use it unlimited for 90 minutes from the first validation. With this ticket you can use Metro, RER (trains within Paris), public buses, tram, Funicular Montmartre and Night Buses.

The transfers allowed with the “Ticket t +” are:

  • Metro – Metro
  • Metro – RER (within Paris)
  • RER – RER (within Paris)
  • Bus – Bus (including RATP and OPTILE networks)
  • Bus – Tram
  • Tram – Tram

(It is not allowed to make the following transfers with Ticket t+: “metro – bus”, “metro – tram”, “RER – bus” or “RER – tram”)

Prices For Ticket t +

  • Ticket t+ (Single ticket); € 1.90
  • Ticket t+  (Carnet / 10 tickets); € 14.50

Children Discounts;

  • 0-4 years old; free of charge
  • 4-10 years old; full rate if you buy single ticket and half price if you buy “carnet / 10 tickets”.

  • Metro machines in metro, RER and tram stations (coins and credit cards are valid)
  • Ticket offices of the metro , train (RER) and tram stations
  • On the public buses (this costs 20 cents more and you can not use this ticket to make transfers)

The Mobilis Ticket operates for one day, without travel limits between zones and the prices are;

Navigo Découverte

Navigo is the most popular electronic (top-up) pass card used by Parisians. But tourists may also buy this card. Navigo cames with four kinds; “weekly / mountly” and “two zones and all zones”. The card is valid on public bus, Metro, RER, Ile-de-France (Transilien) trains.

You need to know before buying Navigo Pass;

  • You need to pay 5 € for the card itself for one time and then you can reload money in it for re-use.
  • You need to have one passport size photo.
  • There are two kinds of Navigo pass card; “Navigo” is for residents and Navigo “Navigo Découverte” is for visitors / travelers.
  • Unlimited travel to CDG, ORY, Disneyland and Versailles.
  • Always validate your tickets, the fines are quite high.
  • The validity of a weekly card starts at 12 a.m. on monday and ends at 11:59 p.m. on sunday. (If these period is not good for you you can read the “Paris Visite Card” below, which is valid for any days you choose).

Navigo Pass Pricing

The price depends on whether it is weekly or monthly. Starting from 2017 Paris Transportation Authority RATP) has decided to remove zones when traveling to or from central Paris zone 1. So there will be very slight differences between zones as you will se below listings;

  • Zones 3-4 /  20,20 €
  • Areas 4-5  /  19,85 € (CDG, Versailles, Disneyland, for Orly valid for Orlybus not the train (2018).
Monthly Pass

  • Zones 2-3 / € 68.60
  • Zones 3-4 / 66,80 €
  • Zones 4-5 / 65,20 € (Charles de Gaulle, Orly and Disneyland)

Paris Visite Pass

The Paris Visit Card is available for 1, 2, 3 and 5 days and allows you to travel through different areas of the city. It starts counting from the first use till the end of the day.
With this pass you can use the metro, public buses, trains (RER), trams, the Orlyval, the Montmartrobus, Noctilien (night buses) and the Funicular de Montmartre. You can also check Paris City Pass Card alternatively.

  • 2 days – € 19.50
  • 3 days – € 26.65
  • 5 days – € 38.35
Zones 1-6 (Charles de Gaulle, Orly, Disneyland and Versailles)

  • 5 days – € 65.80

Children between the ages of 4 and 11 pay approximately 50%. Includes some discounts on some attractions.
If you need it for more than 4 days, it is cheaper to buy the Navigo. It really takes advantage of if you use it to transfer to the airports or to reach Disneyland and Versailles (zones 1-6).

Paris Metro Opening-Closing Hours

  • Operates everyday of the year including holidays
  • Sunday to Thursday from 05:30 am to 00:40.
  • Fridays, Saturdays and the night before a holidays; the last train runs approximately till 01:40.
